A bad day for Arsenal...

Birmingham City 2-2 Arsenal
Saturday, February 23: After a tragic start which saw Arsenal forward Eduardo being taken away after a serious injury in the 3rd minute, Arsenal didn't seem to be the way they have been this season, with not seeming that good with the ball. Things turned worse after a rough challenge by Flamini led to a superlative free kick by McFadden, which enabled the home side to be in front. The first half ended this way. But Arsenal seemed more fluent in the second half and Walcott struck one back for the Gunners in the 50th minute from a corner. The 18 yr old genius scored his and his side's second goal 5 minutes later, this time a more convincing goal to put the visitors ahead. But destiny seemed to be turning it's back towards Arsenal. After a clumsy tackle by Clichy on Parnaby in the dying minutes, the referee awarded a penalty to the home side, though very controversial which was put to good use by McFadden and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Wenger withdraws comments on Taylor
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had blasted Martin Taylor for his rash tackle on Eduardo which caused him a broken leg. Wenger had said he wanted a life ban to be imposed on the Birmingham player. However, Wenger has now softened his stand on Taylor, he said "It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury to Eduardo,".

"On reflection, I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game in the heat of the moment." Wenger concluded.
